Among the messages in the Inter Faith Week press release which went out yesterday is one from Prime Minister Theresa May MP who said:
“Inter Faith Week is an excellent opportunity to celebrate the incredible diversity and richness of faith communities in Britain. It is also a chance for people of all faiths to come together and to highlight the invaluable contribution they collectively make to their neighbourhoods and to wider society.”
It is clear that thousands of people are planning to take advantage of the opportunity of Inter Faith Week. By close of play this evening we have 311 events up on the Inter Faith Week website, www.interfaithweek.org, and dozens more continue to roll in.

Wednesday 16th November – 7.15 – 8.30 “Space for Peace” Vedic Temple Radcliffe Rd Southampton SO14 0PS An interfaith event where musicians from the community come together and share music, prayer and positivity. Thursday 17th November – 7 pm “A Proposal for Peace – Calling for a More Humane Future” – Robert Harrap SGI UK – Palmerston lecture theatre, Spark Building Southampton Solent University, East Park Terrace. This talk introduces the work of Buddhist philosopher Daisaku Ikeda, who calls for greater efforts to protect human rights, safeguard the planet’s ecology, and ban nuclear weapons. SGI-UK is the UK branch of Soka Gakkai International, a lay Buddhist movement based on the teachings of the 13th century Buddhist teacher Nichiren. Friday 18th November – 4.15 “A Perspective of War” Palmerston lecture theatre, Spark Building Southampton Solent University, East Park Terrace, – a dialogue between four people of different faiths (Christian, Muslim, Hindu and Buddhist) about their views on war and peace.
Sunday 20th November 12 noon “Steps for Peace” at Queens Peace Fountain, East Park Terrace An invitation to visit different faith communities in the city and learn about their culture and food.
