Apprenticeships for Business is a new initiative launched by the Solent LEP aimed at providing a ‘one stop shop’ for businesses and young people in the Solent region.
Solent LEP Chairman, Doug Morrison, said;
“I’m delighted to be able announce the launch of Solent Apprentices for Business. We have very clear mission to create an environment in the Solent area that stimulates business growth, generates inward investment and create opportunities for local people to gain new levels of skills so that they too benefit from the new job opportunities that are created. In our 2010 proposal to Ministers we said that we would create, as a matter of priority, an employer led Apprenticeship Training Agency and with the support of the PUSH Employment and Skills Board comprising seven private sector members drawn from some of the largest employers in the Solent area Solent LEP working in Partnership with Apprentices for Business including Pall Europe UK, BAE Systems, EADS Astrium and De Vere Hotels, we have achieved that. I would encourage Solent businesses to work with Apprentices for Business now – they will help you participate in this exciting new scheme”.
The idea is aimed at reducing the number of unemployed young people in the Solent region but helping small businesses to employ young people via the Apprenticeship scheme. Visit the apprenticeship site – www.apprenticesforbusienss.co.uk
Comment: Is this a scheme that you would be able to use? What issues would you see for a small business owner using this scheme?
